Markethill Free Presbyterian Church 30th Anniversay Bible Week

The week of Sunday 11th to Friday 16th March was a special one in the history of Markethill Free Presbyterian Church. A week of Bible teaching meetings was held to mark its 30th anniversary. Past ministers associated with the work preached God's Word each night. The subjects dealt with were,The New Birth-Rev. Harry Cairns,Worship-Rev. David Smith, Prayer-Rev.David Mc Laughlin, Evangelism-Rev.Thomas Murray, Seperation-Dr Ron Johnstone Moderator and Holiness-Rev. Trevor Baxter. The faithful preaching of God's Word was a great blessing and encouragement to the congregation. On the final evening the Youth Fellowship choir sang two lovely hymns, then on behalf of the church committe and congregation, the current minister Rev. James Porter paid tribute to three present officebearers, Mr Samuel Mc Cammon,Mr Wilbur McMullan and Mr Mervyn Spratt. Rev. Porter spoke of their faithfulness and encouragement to the congregation over the years and presented each of them with a Bible. Mrs Helen Porter made floral presentations to their wives,Mrs Violet McCammon,Mrs Roberta McMullan and Mrs Betty Spratt. A floral presentation was also made to Mrs Margeret Hendron, the oldest memember of the congregation. The memorable evening was brought to a close with the serving of supper. Roger Higginson as the evangelist.
